What does the Bible say about God's purpose in choosing His people?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible reveals that God's purpose is to elect a people for Himself before the foundation of the world, as demonstrated in Genesis 24.

In Genesis 24, we see a representation of God's electing grace through Abraham's desire for a bride for his son Isaac. Just as Abraham sought a bride for Isaac from his own kin, God has purposed to call a people unto Himself through His Son, Jesus Christ. This election is not based on any works of our own but is according to God's purpose and grace, given to us in Christ before the world began, as stated in 2 Timothy 1:9. This demonstrates the sovereignty of God in salvation, where He chooses His people to be joined with Christ in a divine covenant relationship.
