What does the Bible say about God's purpose in leaving enemies in our lives?

Answered in 1 source

God leaves enemies in our lives to teach us reliance on His grace and to strengthen our faith.

In Judges 3:1-11, we see that God left enemy nations in Canaan for the Israelites to teach them war and reliance on Him. These enemies served a divine purpose: to prove God’s people and to mold their character. Just as God did not remove all enemies from Israel, He does not remove all adversities from our own lives. Instead, He allows these challenges to teach us that our strength lies not in ourselves but in Him, reminding us that His grace is sufficient in our weaknesses (2 Corinthians 12:9). In this life, God allows hardship to deepen our faith and reliance on His sufficiency, preparing us for greater adversities ahead.
