What does the Bible say about God's purpose in trials?

Answered in 12 sources

The Bible teaches that God's purpose in trials is to refine and build up His people, assuring us that all is well even amidst difficulties.

In Zechariah, we see God's assurance that even though circumstances may appear chaotic or overwhelming, His ultimate purpose is being fulfilled. The trials we face are part of God's providential plan, meant to accomplish His will and strengthen our faith. Romans 8:28 affirms this, stating that 'all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.' Thus, our troubles are not in vain but serve to further the purposes of God in our lives.
