What does the Bible say about God's response to suffering?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that God often allows suffering to build character and faith in us.

The Bible reveals that God's response to suffering isn't always immediate relief; rather, He sometimes chooses to allow us to endure pain for our spiritual growth. For example, in Hebrews 12:6, it states, 'The LORD disciplines the one He loves, and punishes every son whom He receives.' This implies that God's discipline is a sign of His love and intention to shape us into the image of Christ. Throughout Scripture, we see that God’s silence or seeming indifference towards our cries can be a means to strengthen our faith and teach us perseverance. Instead of pampering us with ease, God is committed to developing qualities such as patience, faith, and hope in our struggles.
