What does the Bible say about God's sovereignty in challenging times?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that God is sovereign over all events, using even adversities for His purpose.

In 1 Kings 11:14-25, we see God bringing adversaries to Solomon as a means of chastisement. This shows that God uses human actions, even those stemming from malice, to fulfill His divine purposes. God's sovereignty does not diminish His goodness; rather, it highlights His ability to turn every situation to the benefit of His elect. For instance, in the life of Joseph, the hardships he faced were ultimately used for the salvation of many (Genesis 50:20). Thus, believers can take comfort in knowing that God oversees every event with the intent of drawing His people back to Himself.
