What does the Bible say about God's sovereignty over man's plans?

Answered in 2 sources

The Bible teaches that while man devises his plans, ultimately, it is the Lord who directs his steps (Proverbs 16:9).

Scripture consistently reveals that God reigns supreme over the plans and intentions of man. Proverbs 16:9 tells us, 'In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps.' This highlights the truth that despite our desires and determinations, God's sovereign will ultimately prevails. As we observe the journey of Paul to Rome in Acts 27, it's evident that the authorities on the ship believed they were in control of their destination. However, it was God's providence that shaped their course, demonstrating that He is the ultimate authority over all events in life. We can find comfort in knowing that our lives are under the careful hand and guidance of God, who works all things according to His purpose.
