What does the Bible say about God's stripping away our false confidences?

In the sermon from Judges 18, it is emphasized that God, in His grace, strips His children of those things they trust in, which may be harmful or of no real value. This stripping is depicted as an act of mercy, telling us that our confidence should not rest in the flesh or in vain religious works. Instead, we are called to find our all in the Lord Jesus Christ, who is our ultimate source of strength and salvation.
