What does the Bible say about God's way being different from man's way?

Answered in 1 source

God's way often diverges from man's natural understanding, as shown in Exodus 13:17-18, where He led Israel through the wilderness instead of a quicker route.

In Exodus 13:17-18, we see that God intentionally chose a path for the Israelites that seemed less favorable from a human perspective. Although a shorter route through the land of the Philistines was nearby, God knew that confronting war might cause His people to lose heart and return to Egypt. Thus, He led them through the wilderness, illustrating that His path often involves trials and challenges, orchestrated for their spiritual growth and reliance on Him. This emphasizes that God's wisdom far surpasses our own, and the difficult path He leads us on is ultimately for our good and His glory.
