What does the Bible say about God searching our hearts?

Psalm 139:23-24 illustrates the depth of God's knowledge and His desire for us to be examined. The psalmist, David, invites God to search his heart, knowing that only through such examination can he be led in the way everlasting. This act of searching is necessary because it exposes any wicked ways within us that hinder our walk with God.
