What does the Bible say about goodness and salvation?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that there is no one good, and therefore goodness cannot secure salvation (Romans 3:10-12).

According to Scripture, specifically Romans 3:10-12, it is established that there is none good, no, not one. In fact, the Bible reveals that all of our righteousnesses are as filthy rags (Isaiah 64:6). This means that human goodness, as perceived by the world, does not meet the holy standard of God necessary for salvation. No amount of goodness or good works can justify a person before God. Instead, salvation is found solely through faith in Jesus Christ, who fulfills the law on our behalf and offers righteousness as a gift.
