What does the Bible say about grace and prayer?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that prayer is rooted in God's grace and mercy, and we should appeal to Him based on His love.

In Exodus 33, Moses exemplified the importance of grace in prayer by appealing to God for guidance. He did not base his request on his faithfulness but instead on God's grace, saying, 'If I have found grace in thy sight, show me thy way' (Exodus 33:13). This highlights that our prayers should stem from a recognition of God's undeserved favor rather than our merits. Like Moses, our supplications should reflect a childlike faith that rests in God's goodness and love. When we genuinely seek God's presence and ask for His mercy, we can be assured that He listens and responds.
