What does the Bible say about having a perfect heart?

Answered in 2 sources

The Bible teaches that a perfect heart is one that is wholly devoted to God, as seen in 1 Kings 8:61.

In 1 Kings 8:61, Solomon calls on Israel to let their hearts be perfect, walking in God's statutes and keeping His commandments. A perfect heart is characterized not by flawless obedience to the law, which is impossible for man, but by a heart that is dedicated to God and His glory. The perfect heart recognizes that it is only in Christ that true obedience is accomplished, as stated in Romans 8:3-4. It is not enough to simply adhere to statutes; one must have a heart transformed by God’s grace to truly follow Him. This contrasts sharply with Solomon, whose heart was led astray by his many foreign wives, showing that a perfect heart does not follow after other gods.
