What does the Bible say about having access to God?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that we have boldness and access to God through Jesus Christ, who has made a way for us.

Ephesians 3:12 highlights the privilege believers have to approach God with boldness and confidence through faith in Christ. This access is not through our own merit but is granted by the obedience of Christ, which has been imputed to us. In light of God's grace, we can come into His presence freely, a privilege that reflects God’s desire for a relationship with His people, marked by assurance and conviction of faith.

Historically, under the Old Covenant, access to God was limited to the high priest, who could enter the Holy of Holies once a year with the blood of sacrifices. However, Christ's sacrifice has fundamentally changed this, granting all believers direct access to God's presence. This reveals the depths of God's mercy and the purpose of Christ’s work, which allows us to call upon God as our Father.
