What does the Bible say about hindrances to baptism?

Answered in 1 source

The only hindrance to baptism is unbelief in Jesus Christ as the Son of God.

The Bible teaches that the only obstacle to being baptized is lack of faith. In Acts 8, the Ethiopian eunuch asked Philip, 'What doth hinder me to be baptized?' Philip responded by stating that if the eunuch believed with all his heart, he could be baptized. This signifies that belief in Christ is crucial; only unbelief acts as a barrier. Any man-made requirements or barriers only complicate the simple act of faith in Christ.
