What does the Bible say about honoring God in worship?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible emphasizes that honoring God in worship involves adhering to how He prescribes it, particularly concerning sacrifices.

In 1 Samuel 2, we see a grave warning against dishonoring God through improper worship. Eli's sons, Hophni and Phinehas, exemplified this by defiling the sacrifices brought to God. Instead of honoring the Lord through the sacred act of offering, they imposed their will and profaned the sacrifices, leading to judgment from God. True worship involves understanding and upholding the sanctity of the sacrifice that points to Christ—our ultimate offering for sin. It teaches us that worship should always prioritize God's prescribed methods over human traditions or desires.
