What does the Bible say about human inability to choose God?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that the natural mind is enmity against God and cannot choose spiritual things.

Scripture clearly indicates that human beings, in their natural state, are spiritually unable to choose God. Romans 8:7 states that the carnal mind is enmity against God and cannot be subject to the law of God. This means that individuals, by nature, lack the inclination or preference for spiritual things. They may be religious, but they do not desire God or the things of the Spirit until God intervenes through His revelation and regeneration.
