What does the Bible say about human incapacity to come to Christ?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that no one can come to Christ unless the Father draws them (John 6:44).

According to John 6:44, Jesus explicitly states that 'No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them.' This highlights the total incapacity of man to seek God or come to faith in Christ without divine intervention. Human nature is corrupted by sin, which blinds the mind and darkens the heart, making individuals unable to truly desire God without God first working in them. This incapacity stems from a love for the world and a willingness to remain in sin, which ultimately leads to rebellion against God. Because of this, it is imperative to recognize that coming to Christ requires a supernatural work known as regeneration, through which the Holy Spirit gives life and faith, enabling the individual to perceive their need for salvation.
