What does the Bible say about Israel and the true children of God?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that not all of Israel is Israel; true children of God are those who have faith in Christ.

In Romans 9 and Galatians 3, the Apostle Paul clarifies that true Israel, or the children of God, are defined not by ethnic lineage but by faith in Christ. He explains that being a true child of Abraham, and thereby part of God's covenant people, is dependent on being 'children of the promise'. This distinction underscores the reality that mere physical descent from Abraham does not confer spiritual status. As Paul states, 'He is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; but he is a Jew, which is one inwardly' (Romans 2:28). Thus, true Israel includes all believers in Christ from any background, highlighting the unity of faith's community across all peoples.
