What does the Bible say about Jehoshaphat's reign?

Answered in 1 source

Jehoshaphat was a good king who walked in the ways of the Lord but tolerated pagan practices.

Jehoshaphat, the son of Asa, began his reign over Judah by following his father's righteous ways but allowed some pagan practices to persist, particularly the high places where incense was burned. While he made peace with Israel and strengthened his kingdom, the 'nevertheless' in his story highlights that despite his overall goodness, he failed to remove idolatrous worship from Judah, which was contrary to God's commands. His reign serves as a reminder that even seemingly good leaders can have significant shortcomings.
