What does the Bible say about Jehovah-Jireh?

Answered in 17 sources

Jehovah-Jireh means 'The Lord Will Provide,' signifying God's provision for His people, most dramatically displayed in the sacrifice of Christ.

In Genesis 22, Abraham named the place where God provided a ram as a substitute for Isaac 'Jehovah-Jireh,' which literally means 'The Lord Will Provide.' This name encapsulates the assurance that God sees the needs of His people and provides for them. Throughout Scripture, it is clear that God not only sees our plight but has made provision for our redemption through the ultimate sacrifice of His only Son, Jesus Christ. The deep significance of this name lies in its promise that God will take care of all matters related to salvation, fulfilling His covenant and providing through Christ the Lamb of God.
