What does the Bible say about Jesus as a king?

In John 12, Jesus enters Jerusalem, fulfilling prophecies and establishing His role as the King. However, the people were looking for a political king who would deliver them from Roman oppression. Jesus, instead, comes as a spiritual king, highlighting His mission to save His people from their sins. Zechariah 9:9 foretells Him as just and having salvation, riding on a donkey — a sign of peace, not war.
