What does the Bible say about Jesus as the Christ?

Answered in 5 sources

The Bible affirms that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God, fulfilling Old Testament prophecies and establishing a new covenant.

The Bible presents Jesus as the Christ, the fulfillment of all Old Testament prophecies concerning the Messiah. As stated in John 6:69, Peter confesses, 'We believe and are sure that thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.' This reflects the essential Christian belief in Jesus as the prophesied Savior who has come to redeem His people. Throughout the scriptures, Jesus meets all criteria laid out regarding the Messiah, namely, the termination of the sacrifices through His own sacrificial death, as indicated in Psalm 40 and Hebrews 10, where it's revealed that sacrifice and offerings were not what God desired. Jesus' coming ended the need for the Old Testament rituals and introduced a new order.
