What does the Bible say about joy and trials?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that Christians can rejoice even amidst trials because our joy is rooted in Christ, not in circumstances.

1 Peter 1:6 acknowledges that while we greatly rejoice in God's blessings, we may also experience heaviness through manifold trials. This heaviness is a temporary season that God uses to strengthen our faith, much like gold refined by fire. As believers, our joy remains intact because it is anchored in our relationship with Christ, who never leaves nor forsakes us. Therefore, joy and sorrow can coexist in the believer's experience as we navigate life’s challenges.
