What does the Bible say about justifying God?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that to justify God means to acknowledge His righteousness and clear Him of blame for our sins.

To justify God is to take sides with God against oneself, recognizing one's own sinfulness and the righteousness of God's judgments. This is exemplified in Psalm 51, where David states, 'That you may be justified when you speak, and blameless when you judge.' Justifying God comes from understanding that His judgments are right, and any condemnation felt is deserved due to our nature as sinners. When the publicans and sinners in Luke 7 heard John the Baptist's messages of repentance and sin, they justified God by accepting the truth of their sinful state and their need for mercy.
