What does the Bible say about knowing if I am one of God's elect?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible assures us that those who believe in the Son of God can know they have eternal life (1 John 5:13).

The Apostle John writes in 1 John 5:13 that the purpose of his letter is to assure believers about their eternal life: 'These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that you may know that you have eternal life.' To be one of God's elect means you have been chosen by God from eternity for salvation. This assurance is rooted in our present faith and belief in Jesus Christ, as John expounds in verses preceding that, indicating that whoever believes in Jesus is born of God. Thus, believing in His atoning work is fundamental to the assurance of being among God's elect.
