What does the Bible say about light and salvation?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible refers to God as our light and salvation, highlighting the spiritual need for light to have true life.

In Psalm 27:1, the psalmist declares, 'The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?' This verse symbolizes that without the divine light of God, spiritual life cannot exist. Just as physical light is essential for bodily life, spiritual light is essential for a soul's life. Without God's revelation through Jesus Christ, we remain in darkness, unable to see our need for salvation. The light represents knowledge and understanding of God's character and is ultimately fulfilled in the person of Jesus Christ, who is described in John 1:4-5 as 'In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.'
