What does the Bible say about making Jesus king?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible shows that we cannot make Jesus king; He is already the sovereign King.

In John 6:14-15, we see people wanting to make Jesus king after witnessing His miracle of feeding the 5,000. However, this desire stems from a misunderstanding of His kingship. Jesus departs because His kingship is not something we can impose through our will; He is King by divine authority. Psalm 2 reminds us that God establishes His King on His holy hill, affirming that it is God who sets leaders in their place, not human efforts. The notion of making Jesus king is inherently flawed, as it suggests a level of human control over the divine, which is contrary to the nature of His sovereignty.
