What does the Bible say about mercy in the context of salvation?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that God's mercy leads to our salvation and empowers us to show mercy to others.

Mercy is a central theme in the Bible, especially in relation to salvation. Jesus teaches that to whom much is forgiven, they will love much (Luke 7:47). This principle illustrates that understanding the depth of God's mercy leads to a heartfelt response in love and gratitude. In the Parable of the Good Samaritan, as well as in the stories of Zacchaeus and the woman who anointed Jesus' feet, we see that those who have experienced God's mercy are compelled to extend that same mercy to others. As Christians, recognizing the mercy we've received from God allows us to be more merciful in our interactions, showing grace and compassion as an outpouring of our gratitude for the salvation we have received.
