What does the Bible say about multiple wives?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible explicitly forbids kings from multiplying wives as seen in Deuteronomy 17.

The Bible consistently teaches that marriage should be a monogamous relationship between one man and one woman, as established in the Garden of Eden. When questioned about divorce, Jesus pointed back to this original design, emphasizing the union of two becoming one flesh (Genesis 2:24). Having multiple wives or concubines is portrayed as sin throughout the Scriptures, including in the life of King David, who faced numerous troubles due to his polygamous relationships. Despite his power, David's actions of taking multiple wives went against God's design and were ultimately sinful.
