What does the Bible say about obedience and salvation?

Answered in 2 sources

The Bible teaches that our obedience to God's law does not contribute to our salvation; salvation is found in Christ alone.

The Scriptures clearly state that our obedience to God's commandments has no bearing on our salvation. This is founded on passages such as Romans 3:20, which declares that by the deeds of the law, no flesh will be justified in God's sight. Salvation is through faith in Jesus Christ alone (Romans 3:22) and not by our works. While good works and obedience are essential expressions of our love for God and evidence of our faith, they do not save us; rather, Christ's perfect obedience fulfills the law on our behalf.
