What does the Bible say about our end and purpose in life?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that every person has an appointed end and that life is temporary, urging us to consider our days wisely.

Psalm 39:4 says, "Lord, make me to know mine end, and the measure of my days..." This verse reminds us that life is short and finite. Throughout Scripture, we see the theme of mortality—Moses in Deuteronomy 32 laments that people should consider their latter end. Understanding that we have an end compels us to live with purpose and urgency, bearing in mind our ultimate accountability to God for how we spent our days. Reminding ourselves of this truth helps us focus on what truly matters in life.
