What does the Bible say about our need for spiritual sustenance?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that true spiritual sustenance is found in Christ, who is the living water.

In Exodus 17, the Israelites encountered a situation where they found themselves in a barren desert without water, which serves as a powerful metaphor for the spiritual condition of humanity. Just as the Israelites were in need of physical water, we too find ourselves in a spiritual desert, unable to satisfy our thirst for righteousness through worldly means. The Rock, representing Christ, was smitten to provide the living water that quenches the soul's thirst. In John 4:14, Jesus declares that whoever drinks the water He gives will never thirst again, illustrating that He is the source of everlasting life and spiritual sustenance.
