What does the Bible say about prayer to the Holy Spirit?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible allows believers to address prayers to the Holy Spirit, as seen in Ezekiel's vision of the dry bones.

In the Christian tradition, particularly within Reformed theology, it is understood that prayer can be addressed to the Holy Spirit. For instance, in Ezekiel 37, God commands the prophet to prophesy to the wind (or breath), inviting the Spirit to bring life to the dry bones. This illustrates the importance of the Holy Spirit's ministry in the life of the believer. Furthermore, the Song of Solomon 4:16 reveals a prayer to the beloved, signifying an invitation to both the Son and the Spirit in their work in the hearts of believers. Therefore, while Christians typically pray to the Father, it is not considered improper to pray to the Holy Spirit as well, recognizing the fullness of the Godhead in their prayer life.
