What does the Bible say about purification by faith?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that our hearts are purified by faith in Christ, not by our works or adherence to the law.

In Acts 15, Peter asserts that God purifies the hearts of believers by faith, emphasizing that it is not through our works that we gain salvation but through faith in Christ alone. This is reflected in the contrast between the Judaizers' insistence on circumcision and the apostles' declaration that salvation comes through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ. Hebrews 9:13-14 also emphasizes that while ceremonial laws could purify the flesh, it is the blood of Christ that purges our conscience from dead works, enabling us to serve the living God. Therefore, purification is a heart matter—not bound by legalistic observance but rather a gracious work of the Holy Spirit who leads us to depend entirely on Christ.
