What does the Bible say about putting on Christ?

Answered in 2 sources

The Bible teaches that by faith, believers are to 'put on' Christ, signifying their union with Him and his righteousness.

In Galatians 3:27, Paul writes, 'For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.' This metaphor indicates the believer's identity transformation through faith in Jesus. To put on Christ means to embrace His righteousness and character, resulting in a new life that reflects His glory. This act is not something we can accomplish on our own; it is a work of God as He places us in Christ by His sovereign grace. As a result, believers are called to live in light of this new identity, manifesting attributes such as holiness, love, and charity that come from being in Christ.
