What does the Bible say about reformation and salvation?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that mere reformation or becoming religious is not equivalent to salvation.

In Matthew 12, Jesus points out that reformation, or turning over a new leaf, does not equate to true salvation. The Jewish nation at the time was religious but largely lost, having zeal but lacking knowledge, as illustrated in Romans 10. Salvation requires more than outward changes; it necessitates a true heart transformation brought about by the work of the Holy Spirit. The distinction is crucial as many might seek a form of godliness, yet deny the power that can only come through a genuine relationship with Jesus Christ.
