What does the Bible say about responding to unjust curses?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches us to respond to unjust curses with patience and forgiveness, as demonstrated by David and Christ.

In 2 Samuel 16, we see David enduring unjust curses from Shimei, who accused him of being a man of blood. Rather than retaliating, David recognized that this cursing was permitted by God and chose to respond with humility. This illustrates a key principle for Christians: when wronged, we must follow Christ's example, who forgave those who crucified Him, saying, 'Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.' This calls us to reflect on the nature of our own suffering and to respond not with fleshly anger but with patience and faith in God's sovereign plan.
