What does the Bible say about rest and mercy?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that Christ is the true rest and mercy for His people, fulfilling the law and providing spiritual sustenance.

According to Luke 6:1-5, Jesus declares that He is the Lord of the Sabbath, indicating that He is the embodiment of rest. He provides His people with rest from the law's demands and mercifully sustains them through His grace. The law served as a shadow pointing to Christ, who fulfills all those demands entirely. As stated in Colossians 2, Christ is the body of which the Sabbaths and all the sacrificial systems were mere shadows. Therefore, believers find their true rest and mercy in Him, who has accomplished our righteousness and sanctification through His perfect obedience and sacrifice.
