What does the Bible say about returning to rest?

Answered in 1 source

Returning to rest in the biblical sense signifies finding peace in God after salvation through Christ.

Returning to rest, as described in Psalm 116:7, is about experiencing the peace that comes from knowing the Lord has dealt bountifully with us. The message of the Gospel is fundamentally about returning to that rest. Prior to the fall, Adam was at rest in the Garden, but sin disrupted that peace, turning life into a labor of works. However, through Christ’s finished work on the cross, we are invited to return to that state of spiritual rest. This rest comes not from our own efforts but from trusting in Jesus’ complete and sufficient sacrifice.
