What does the Bible say about revivals?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible emphasizes that true revivals come from God, not from human effort.

The genuine revivals in Scripture are marked by God's outpouring of the Spirit, resulting in spiritual awakening and conversion, as seen in Acts 2:2-4. While humans can attempt to create excitement or gatherings, these are often devoid of true spiritual fruit unless God Himself is working. The Apostle Paul reminds us that growth in the church is solely the work of God, as seen in 1 Corinthians 3:6-7, where he states, 'I planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.' Thus, any revival not grounded in God's sovereign grace is ultimately flawed.
