What does the Bible say about righteousness and faith?

Answered in 2 sources

The Bible teaches that righteousness is imputed to believers through faith in Jesus Christ.

The concept of righteousness in the Bible is clearly articulated in Romans 4, where it is stated that Abraham's faith was counted to him for righteousness (Romans 4:3). However, this righteousness is not derived from Abraham's own works but is the righteousness established by the obedience and sacrifice of Christ. It is through faith in Jesus, who was delivered for our offenses and raised for our justification, that we receive this righteousness (Romans 4:24-25). Therefore, righteousness is not something we achieve through our actions but something we receive by faith in the finished work of Christ.
