What does the Bible say about righteousness and judgment?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that righteousness is essential for salvation, as only the perfect righteousness of Christ satisfies God's justice.

Scripture indicates that righteousness plays a critical role in God's judgment. Proverbs 11:1 states, 'A false balance is an abomination to the Lord, but a just weight is His delight.' This emphasizes the necessity of perfect righteousness, which is found solely in Jesus Christ. Only His righteousness can tip the scales of justice in our favor, as our own attempts at righteousness are deemed insufficient (Isaiah 64:6). Righteousness delivered through Christ not only secures our salvation but also assures us that we are free from God's wrath (Romans 8:1). It reminds us that we must place our faith in Christ's finished work to be declared innocent before a holy God.
