What does the Bible say about righteousness for entry into heaven?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that only a righteousness that exceeds the Pharisees' can secure entry into heaven (Matthew 5:20).

According to Matthew 5:20, Jesus clearly states that unless our righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, we cannot enter the kingdom of heaven. This statement reflects not only the standard set by the law but emphasizes the impossibility of achieving righteousness through our efforts. As fallen sinners, we are unable to meet this requirement; however, the righteousness we need is found in the person and work of Jesus Christ, who fulfilled the law on our behalf. His perfect obedience and sacrificial death satisfy the demands of God's justice, making Him the only means through which we can stand justified before God.
