What does the Bible say about Satan's power and defeat?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that Satan is a powerful adversary but ultimately defeated by Jesus Christ.

Scripture affirms that while Satan can be a roaring lion seeking to devour believers (1 Peter 5:8), his power is fundamentally limited by the sovereignty of God. The ultimate defeat of Satan occurred at the cross when Christ, through His death and resurrection, destroyed the one who holds the power of death, that is, the devil (Hebrews 2:14). Thus, although Satan can tempt and accuse, he cannot eternally harm those who are in Christ. The victory of Christ assures believers that they are safe from eternal condemnation, as His resurrection seals the defeat of sin and death.
