What does the Bible say about Satan's role as an accuser?

Answered in 2 sources

The Bible depicts Satan as the accuser of the brethren, consistently opposing God's people in the heavenly court.

In Zechariah 3:1, we see a vivid portrayal of Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord, with Satan at his right hand, accusing him. This scene illustrates the ongoing spiritual warfare wherein Satan acts as an accuser, resisting the children of God. Despite these accusations, we find assurance in Scripture that Jesus stands as our advocate, pleading our case before the Father. John reminds us in 1 John 2:1 that if we sin, we have an advocate with the Father – Jesus Christ the righteous. He intercedes for us, countering the accusations of the enemy with His own righteousness and propitiation for our sins.
