What does the Bible say about secret discipleship?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible illustrates that true disciples cannot remain secret after seeing Christ crucified.

In John 19:38-42, we see Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus, who were once secret disciples of Jesus out of fear. However, after witnessing the crucifixion, their secretive faith turned into boldness. Genuine faith in Christ cannot remain hidden; once a person truly sees Christ crucified, they cannot hide their identification with Him. The transformation from secret disciple to public follower underscores the reality that being a disciple of Christ means openly aligning oneself with Him and His body, the Church.
