What does the Bible say about seeking a homeland?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that believers, like Abraham, seek a city prepared by God, affirming their status as pilgrims on earth.

Hebrews 11 tells us that Abraham and other Old Testament saints were looking for a city with foundations, whose builder and maker is God (Hebrews 11:10). They lived as strangers and pilgrims in the world, confident in the promises of God, knowing that they sought a better, heavenly country. This emphasizes the idea that Christians are not meant to find their ultimate belonging in this world, but rather, they have their eyes set on the eternal kingdom established by God.
