What does the Bible say about seeking forgiveness?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that forgiveness of sins must be sought in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, as we can only be forgiven through His sacrifice.

The Scriptures emphasize that God's forgiveness of sinful men and women can only be received through the person and work of Jesus Christ. Ephesians 4:32 states, 'And be you kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.' This indicates that it is for Christ's sake, due to His sacrifice, that we are forgiven. Our sins are ultimately against God, and satisfying God's infinite justice requires an infinite sacrifice, which only Christ could provide. As we seek God's forgiveness, we must acknowledge that it is only through Christ that we are accepted by Him.
