What does the Bible say about seeking God for salvation?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that no one seeks God in their fallen state; rather, God seeks and saves the lost.

Scripture indicates that fallen mankind does not seek God; they hide from Him as illustrated in the story of Adam who fled God's presence after sinning. Isaiah 55:6 encourages seeking the Lord, but it’s important to recognize that it is God who initiates this search for us. Romans 3:10-12 states clearly that 'there is none righteous, no, not one; there is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.' Thus, it is wholly God's sovereign grace that causes any individual to seek Him, as He first sought us.
