What does the Bible say about sin and God's grace?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that all our righteousness is as filthy rags and only through God's grace can we be saved.

Scripture reveals the true nature of our condition as sinners, affirming that we all, like as an unclean thing, cannot approach God on our own merit. Isaiah 64:6 states, 'But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags.' This highlights the depth of our sinfulness. Yet, the grace of God offers us hope for redemption. In our unworthiness, we can plead for mercy, as God is gracious and merciful to those who turn to Him in faith. Recognizing our sin is the first step toward understanding the boundless grace that God extends to those who seek Him sincerely.
